While Taksim Mosque connects Istiklal Street, one of the busiest arteries of Istanbul, and Tarlabaşı Boulevard, it nourishes this place with the social areas which it contains. The word hajj which means “to go, to turn; to visit" in Arabic. As a fiqh term, it refers to the worship which is performed by every Muslim who has the means, by visiting the Kaaba, Arafat, Muzdalifah and Mina and performing certain religious duties within the specified time (in the month of Dhu al-Hijjah). Hajj, which was made obligatory in the ninth year of Hijra, is a worship performed with both the body and property.
