
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism hosted a wonderful festival called Beyoğlu Culture Route for a month following the opening of Atatürk Cultural Center on October 29, 2021. Concerts, theater performances, exhibitions, music concerts, film screenings, interviews and workshops were organized in this activity, which was performed on the line following Atatürk Cultural Center from Galata with the participation of sixty cultural and artistic institutions, and the richness of the Beyoglu region was revived.
Taksim Mosque Foundation, in cooperation with Traditional Arts Association, performed dozens of activities by organizing exhibitions, workshops, autograph sessions, talks and concerts atTaksim Mosque Cultural Center between October 30 and November 14, 2021 within the scope of the festival. With these activities, our traditional arts were brought together with the audience by being included in the cultural festival held in Beyoğlu where is the art artery of Istanbul.
Taksim Mosque Cultural Center opened its doors to art lovers for the first time within the scope of this project. Seljuk-themed works of our artists, who produced products in many branches of our traditional arts, were brought together with the Seljuk Exhibition and remained open to visitors every day for fourteen days. Marbling, calligraphy and lithography workshops also offered art enthusiasts the opportunity to practice and create their own works within the exhibition space.
While signing days for the books Ehl-i Hiref-i Hâssa Artists III Mehmed Era (1596 - 1601) written by Sakine Akcan Ekici, Bibliography of Ornamental Arts (Tezyini Sanatlar Bibliyografyası) prepared by Assoc. Dr. Gülnihal Küpeli and Ottoman Flowers and Florists of Dr. Seyit Ali Kahraman were organized, two Friday Meshki were practised.
In the first of the interviews held with specialists in their field, the decoration styles applied in our mosques were discussed with Abdullah Oğuzhanoğlu under the title of "Mosque Decoration in Islamic Architecture". In the "Copyrights in Art Work" interview organized with the participation of Attorney Ahmet Akcan, the rights that our artists have personally and through their works, and the ways to be followed in case of violations of rights were clarified. In the "New Mosque Designs" interview organized, İhsan Açık gave information about the new developments in our mosque architectures in parallel with the changing in architecture.
In the last week of the project, "Religious Music in Jews, Christians and Muslims" with Prof. Dr. Safa Yeprem, "Taxation in Artistic Activities" with Muhammet Bayram, "The Mosque in Islamic Architecture" with Assoc. Dr. Aras Neftçi; "Taksim Mosque Architecture and Decoration" interviews were practised with the participation of Architect Derya Poturnak, Calligrapher Davut Bektaş and Miniaturist Adem Turan. The activities within the scope of the festival ended on 14 November.
